Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Intelliscan Verify (the “Service”), operated by the Intelliscan Standards Institute (“Intelliscan”, “we”). By creating an account or submitting work you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
1. What the Service is
Intelliscan Verify checks academic work (theses, dissertations, projects, articles) for similarity to existing sources and for signs of AI-generated writing, produces a report with a similarity score and band (GREEN / AMBER / RED), and — where the work is approved by the reviewing body — issues a verifiable Certificate of Originality. Read how the method works.
The reviewing body is either your institution (where it has deployed the Service for its students) or the Intelliscan Standards Institute (for direct individual submissions).
2. Your account
- You must give accurate details (name, email, matriculation/registration number, institution). Certificates are printed from these details; errors caused by inaccurate details are your responsibility, though we will correct genuine mistakes on request.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- One person, one account. Where your institution has deployed the Service, you must register with the details on your institution's record.
3. Fees and payment
- The fee for each submission is shown clearly before you pay. For individual submissions it is the standard per-check fee displayed in the app; where your institution has an agreement with us, the institution's agreed fee applies and is shown on your submission page. Institutions may also purchase bundles under which their listed students submit at no cost to the student.
- Payments are processed by Paystack (card, bank transfer or USSD). We do not receive or store your card details.
- Each submission is a separate check. A revised resubmission after an AMBER or RED result is a new submission and attracts the fee again, unless it is covered by prepaid credits or an institutional bundle.
- Prices are quoted in Nigerian Naira unless the page states otherwise. Fees may change; changes never affect a check you have already paid for.
4. Refunds
- If you paid but the check could not be completed for a technical reason on our side, we will re-run it at no cost or refund the fee in full — your choice.
- If you paid twice for the same submission by mistake, the duplicate payment is refunded in full.
- Once a check has run and a report has been produced, the fee is not refundable, regardless of the score, band or the reviewer's decision. The fee pays for the verification, not for a particular outcome.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method through Paystack, normally within 5–10 working days. Request one at info@intelliscanstandardsinstitute.org quoting your payment reference.
5. What a result and a certificate mean — and do not mean
- The similarity score, AI-writing score and band are the output of an automated analysis against the sources available to us at the time. They are decision-support for a human reviewer, not a verdict on their own.
- A Certificate of Originality confirms that, on the date issued, the work was checked and the reviewing body approved it as meeting the applicable originality standard. It is not a guarantee that no matching source exists anywhere, and it does not replace your institution's own academic regulations, examinations or awards.
- Where your institution is the reviewer, its decision is final under its own rules. Where the Institute reviews, we may return the work for revision if it exceeds the threshold.
- Certificates can be verified by anyone at
/verify/<certificate ID>. We may withdraw a certificate if it was obtained through false details, if the submission is deleted, or if we later find the work was not the submitter's own.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: submit work that is not yours or that you are not authorised to submit; use the Service to “launder” plagiarised work; attempt to defeat, reverse-engineer or overload the check; upload malicious files; or share account access. We may suspend accounts that breach this section and, where fraud is involved, inform the institution concerned.
7. Your content
You keep all copyright in your work. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and compare it as described in the Privacy Policy and Data Retention & Deletion page — including holding approved works in the comparison corpus so that others cannot pass them off as their own. We do not publish, sell or use your work to train AI models.
8. Availability
We aim for the Service to be available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. If we know maintenance is coming we will try to say so in the app. Checks on very large documents can take several minutes.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim connected with the Service is limited to the fees you paid us for the submission concerned. We are not liable for academic, employment or other consequences that follow from a report or decision, or for loss caused by inaccurate details you supplied. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Institutions
Institutions using bundles or a signed agreement are additionally bound by that agreement, which prevails over these terms in case of conflict. Institutional reviewers must use their access only for the institution's legitimate academic purposes.
11. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and significant changes will be announced in the app or by email. You may close your account at any time (see deletion). We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction. Questions: info@intelliscanstandardsinstitute.org · +234 916 102 7000 · Contact page.
